Mount Aloia
Mount Aloia is a natural park that leaves no visitor indifferent—perhaps one of its greatest virtues. It offers a wide variety of attractions: scenic landscapes, historical heritage, rich flora and fauna, and even religious sites. It appeals to hikers and mountain bikers alike, and it also boasts wonderful spots where visitors can enjoy a good meal surrounded by nature.
Beyond the technical details, Mount Aloia features several outstanding viewpoints facing different directions, offering spectacular views over the Baixo Miño, Val Miñor, A Louriña, and even the Cíes Islands. Its cyclopean wall provides an insight into the strategic importance of this mountain throughout history, regardless of whether it was truly the site of the legendary Mount Medulio, the last stronghold of resistance against the Romans.
Nature is particularly generous here. Various reforestation projects have created a lush woodland environment, home to a remarkable collection of tree species that are uncommon in the Galician mountains.
Mount Aloia was the first natural park in Galicia. A visit to its interpretation centre is highly recommended, as it provides an excellent introduction to the park's significance and offers valuable information for exploring it. Numerous trails, most of them easy to follow, allow visitors to discover and enjoy all of the park’s many attractions.
