Carballo Bastion

The Carballo bastion and battery formed part of the defensive system raised in the seventeenth century during the Portuguese Restoration War. Set beside the gate of the same name, it protected Tui's southern flank from possible attacks from Valença. It is a key element for understanding the shift from medieval walls to modern fortification.
